268 Declaration

"Yes, Lord, walking in the way of Your truth, we wait eagerly for You, for Your Name and Your renown are the desire of our souls." ~Isaiah 26:8

This verse has been my refrain for the last year or so as I've grown more and more dissatisfied with the various comforts and pursuits our culture offers. Humans seek satisfaction. We're always looking for it, always pursuing it. We make decisions based on it and live our lives according to it. We're looking for satisfaction in relationships, jobs, entertainment, relaxation, spirituality, etc. We desire to be satisfied and we spend our lives searching for it. But where is it found? It is found in God! He has created us to be completely satisfied in Him. We, however, look continuously for it in every other capacity. We're looking in the wrong place. Isaiah realized this when he wrote the above statement, prophesying the song of the Israelites. They will know that He is their satisfaction and will desire God and His fame in the depths of their souls.

I want that kind of satisfaction. I don't want to be deceived into the pursuit of all the empty attractions this word offers. I want God.

This desire is shared by the people who started the "268 generation" and Passion conferences. Check them out at http://www.268generation.com/268generation/. They provide what they call the "268 Declaration" - a collection of statements inspired by Isaiah 26:8 and supported by other scripture. In my pursuit of satisfaction I've gone through these statements and corresponding scriptures and recorded my own notes. It's been incredibly rewarding and throught-provoking; I would like to share these thoughts with you.
